Life Updates. 2025 seems to be all about fitness. Or something.

It’s funny how I thought I would be so committed to get back into blogging last year. I was convinced that because of what I already knew regarding movements in my life that I would be sticking to resurrecting this blog to keep the world updated on what’s going on in my life. I was too optimistic about what should’ve been a new habit.

Alas, here I am again. Will I attempt to commit to updating this regularly since I am paying to keep the domain and whatever I am figuring out how to make 2025 interesting? I’m not sure. But, anyway, I’m here. This domain is still alive even if I am unsure what the purpose of this is at this point.

What’s new with me since my last post?

I am pretty sure that if you’re here then you follow me on my socials. After two years in Vietnam (the story of which I still need to immortalize here someway, somehow), I went back to Manila, Philippines. I flew back 13 April 2024. I went back to my OG company and I am now the Business Unit Director for Corporate. Side note: I have since motioned to expound the team to “Corporate Reputation and Impact”. So, yes. From an Account Executive in 2013, I ~climbed the Corporate ladder (no pun intended) and I now head this team.

I flew to Europe in August last year as I was supposed to watch The Eras Tour of Taylor Swift in Austria, Vienna. But, we know what went there. If not, well, as a quick refresher, the Vienna leg was cancelled due to a terrorist threat. Thankfully it was foiled. But, I’d be lying if I said that until now it still stings that I wasn’t able to attend any show from her The Eras Tour. I don’t think a tour of that scale could ever be replicated ever again. That low moment of last year was immortalized when a Reuters reporter interviewed me. You can watch it here. It was quite funny when friends from all over the world shared clips and even reports by their respective media that syndicated that interview.

I ended 2024 accomplishing what I set myself to achieve which was to feel at home within myself. Slay.

Now we’re almost halfway through 2025. Almost because it’s only the start of June. Please stop being confused that end of May = halfway through the year.

I started the year being really interested in Electric Studio’s Rhythmic Boxing. Props to Mika, a former student of mine, who invited me to try it back in December 2024. It’s really fun. It’s not the regular boxing/sparring as we do the whole workout following the rhythm of the songs. I mean…obviously. It’s in the name.

Indoor cycling is still there but I have significantly slowed down since May as I have started to develop an interest in running. I know. Me? Running? The same person who once upon a time deviated from a race route to buy iced coffee then come back in the race with iced coffee? The same person who just never understood the appeal of running because he thought it’s one of the most boring sports in the world? What motivated me is finding out that there are certain marathons that are quite unique. And as someone quirky, of course I want to experience one kind of marathon. I’ll update here once I have ran it.

Proud of myself to have started my birth month doing a 10KM run! Proof below:

It was pretty fun, despite my shin splint really affecting my left leg. Hopefully it recovers soon so I can run again. Meantime, I’ll continue boxing and perhaps still do some spinning–assuming it won’t affect my leg. Anyway, if you’re also just starting with your running ~journey, feel free to connect on Strava!

I’m turning 34 SOON.

My birthday is literally in a few days. It’s a bit sad, honestly, that there’s no celebration this year, exactly. I just have a dinner with family on the day itself. No trips. No staycations. No plans to arrange anything with friends. I considered gathering friends for something simple but it dawned on me that most of my close friends are not in Manila anymore. It’s a shame. It’s quite depressing, actually.

I think next year I really have to plan a trip on my birth month. I really wanted to do Primavera Sound in Barcelona this year but tickets sold out so quickly. Not surprised considering the lineup is INSANE. Oh well. Let’s see where I can go next year.
