Festival of World Class Filipinos

For the coming Saturdays—from May 25 to June 15—I will be happily attending the Festival of World Class Filipinos at the newest development of Ortigas & Company called Capitol Commons.

Each Saturday would be a celebration of world-class Filipino talent showcasing works through film, fashion, culture and art. Tomorrow—May 25—there will be a film viewing of Jose Rizal (1998), Babae Sa Septic Tank (2011)  and there will be a special performance of one of the most famous local bands, The CompanY. The week after (June 1), Ballet Philippines will be taking the spotlight along with the Ateneo Chamber Singers. For June 8, chefs Claude Tayag and Vicky Pacheco will be conducting a cooking show and there will be a furniture exhibit by famous designers Kenneth Cobonpue and Ito Kish; not to mention, there will be a special performance by Robert Peña and Isay Alvarez. Lastly, for June 15, a fashion show with an exciting lineup of designers will take place. The works of Michael Cinco, Amina Aranaz, Herbert Custodio, Roel Rosal and Albert Andrada will be making their way on the runway. The UP Concert Chorus will also be performing on the same night.

Beyond the spectacular line up of events, what makes me excited to attend these four Saturdays is that they are all for FREE! Yes, I kid you not, you get to watch films, see brilliant designers, watch performances, and have a great time with your friends—or family—for FOUR STRAIGHT SATURDAYS. All events begin at 6PM and Mercato Centrale vendors will be there to sell food.
