People usually just put on sunscreen when they know they’ll be doing activities outdoors. You see it. People lathering on generous amounts of sunscreen while in the beach, hiking up a mountain, or while engaging in outdoor sports. It’s very much important to protect our skin from the harsh rays of the sun. And while that’s good, people also need to get into the habit of applying sunscreen daily.
Daily? Are you kidding me? Nope.
To be honest, I’ve always known about this but I only started doing it this year, since part of my whole Year of Saying Choose Yourself is also about taking better care of my skin.
What have you been using? As the title of the entry mentions, I’ve been using the Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA ++++ Sunscreen!
When you head over to the Kiehl’s stores, you won’t normally see the 60 mL version as I believe it’s only the 30 mL one which they offer in all their stores. I got mine in the Changi Airport on my way back from my recent Singapore trip last January.
What do I love about this product? A lot.
First, it’s SPF 50, which is just the right number if you want to protect yourself from UVB rays. Although you can’t get a full 100% protection, a sunscreen with SPF 50 is supposed to block 97-98% of the rays which tans your skin, causes sunburn, and skin cancer. Another thing to keep in mind, these UVB rays can penetrate even through tinted windows! So, if you’re seated near them, you better start lathering on some sunscreen.
Second, it’s non-comedogenic, which simply means that it doesn’t clog your pores. Honestly, though, I think all facial products should be non-comedogenic by now, but alas, it’s still not so common. This is quite noteworthy because I had bad experience using different brands on my face which led to breakouts. Yikes!
Third, it offers amazing UVA protection as well. You see, unfortunately, I’m seated beside the window in our office, so the morning sun hits the left side of my face. At first my mom noticed that the part of my face exposed more is getting redder everyday. Sad, right? When I began applying the Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA ++++ Sunscreen, she noticed that the red part of my face started getting back to its normal shade. And I also felt that it was getting smoother (because it being exposed made it a bit rough too).
Fourth, the sunscreen doesn’t tint. At least, for my shade, it doesn’t.
I applied a pea-sized amount on the back of my hand and I spread it all over. What did it look like after?
The same. It doesn’t look fairer, and it doesn’t feel sticky too! To be honest, that was one of the things I didn’t like about sunscreens–how it would make your skin feel so oily (by the way, this one’s oil-free), and so white. But with the Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA ++++ Sunscreen, never felt that way!
If you ask me about ingredients, well, I’m not as well-verse when it comes to those, but next time I purchase, I’ll take a snap of the back of the box which contains all ingredients. To be honest, I would have wanted that to be at the back of the product itself rather than the directions.
Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to sun screen usage is that you should apply the sunscreen–any sunscreen actually–15-20 minutes before exposure to the sun. You just want to make sure that the product has settled on your skin so you could be well protected.
Over all, I’ve been enjoying the sunscreen of Kiehl’s! It has been protecting my skin well, and I like how it doesn’t leave my skin oily nor does it dry it! I’ve also been applying it twice a day (sometimes thrice or even four times if it’s too sunny), and I still have a lot left. Again, I bought this mid-January and it’s already mid-March. Value for money? Yes! Yes! Yes!
So, for the upcoming Summer season, I suggest for you to try the Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA ++++ Sunscreen! It’s lightweight, high value for money, and it will definitely protect your skin from the sun!
