This Unproductive Weekend

Today’s the 5th day of our weekend. Originally, we were only supposed to not have work last Monday (Quezon City Day) and today (Ninoy Aquino Day). Due to the arrival of a typhoon (or storm, not quite sure with the classification), work was called off yesterday, we were advised to just work from home. Quite happy that meetings yesterday didn’t push through. I’d feel pretty bad if my colleague had to risk her life going to the meeting as she’d come from a place already flooding (I think).

So did I get work done yesterday? I tried my best to get in touch with people. I had to send an advisory and confirm if people received it. I tried till lunch to get in touch with different stations and different people but some people weren’t really picking up. Sad, really. I also tried to confirm the attendance of people for an event next week but they weren’t in the office. Completely forgot that their companies called off work as well.

I continued doing other work as well and then at one point I just couldn’t get so much done. Imagine the frustration.

To make me feel better I just did a marathon of some classic films.

1999’s Notting Hill featuring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant

Screen Shot 2013-08-21 at 10.08.52 AMWho can ever forget that classic line “Don’t forget – I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”? I love this film!

2004’s The Notebook featuring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling

I loved this part and I have actually lied down on the road before in JTA. No judging. It was in my bucket list.Screen Shot 2013-08-21 at 10.20.53 AM

This part when Ryan and Rachel were on a boat and then it started to rain. Screen Shot 2013-08-21 at 10.21.09 AM“I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year”

“It wasn’t over. It still isn’t over”

Oh I love this scene too much! This scene is probably the reason why it’s in every couple’s bucket list to kiss under the rain!

2002’s Two Weeks Notice featuring Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant

Screen Shot 2013-08-21 at 10.38.35 AMScreen Shot 2013-08-21 at 10.39.04 AM Well, growing up Sandra Bullock was an easy favorite actress of mine because my mom would use to bring me along with her to watch her films. And while everyone else in the class liked Will Smith or someone else, Hugh Grant was my favorite actor. Probably it’s because of the accent. Or, again, because my mom made me watch his films.

I wanted to watch two others (Amélie and Sweet Home Alabama) but too much films in one day could just make me more unproductive. Haha!

Today’s the 5th day of this impromptu break and I’m hoping once I get back to the office tomorrow, luck will be on my side as I get things done. Fingers crossed!
