JTA. We’ve Only Just Begun

First week of JTA has been so stressful not only academically, but emotionally as well for me. I won’t hide to anyone that the past week has been a roller coster of sorts for me. In a span of 6 days, a lot has happened; some good, some bad. Thinking about my classes alone makes me just want to give up (and yes, it might seem so early but it’s difficult when I see the people I’ll be leaving behind and when people mention things I will surely miss). But I guess it’s because of the friends who are with me in this journey that I pick myself up. I actually feel bad I wasn’t able to take a picture of everyone 😦 Will do next week!

Crazy blockmates. Really love these guys! Really wish Ina went on through with it. But I know that God has better plans for her and I just really wish her the best. But until after JTA sem 2, I’ll be with Dominic, Maia and Gianna most of the time from R4.

And there are also the other ComTech majors who are as crazy and fun! I know all of them but not so close and I just can’t wait to hang with these people! Note that the 2 other people behind Dianne aren’t my JTA blockmates, the guy is an ME marketing classmate and the one behind him is an LS100(I think) prof.

Our classes have been crazy but enjoyable…except for Finance. Well, sir Mike Tan is great and all but it was hard to grasp concepts and all that. Wishing things will be fixed for us ComTech JTAers! Philo was really crazy. Marketing and OpMan are both interesting. CS175 will be enjoyable I bet. In all, I have an amazing set of profs and I am just wishing that my extracurricular activities won’t get in the way of me getting really good grades this hell JTA sem! 🙂

Singapore Trip. Walk, Walk, Fashion Baby

April 07, 2011

We were eating dinner and I looked outside the window to see  a fashion show! It wasn’t anything like the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show or any prominent designer’s fashion show (but they were wearing famous brands). After eating my noodle soup, I asked if I could rush down, and I was allowed! so… YAY!

The following are the shots from the very simple fashion show. Don’t judge! Haven’t been used to Funphy and it’s all manual focus so yeah. 😦

And a treat for the girls out there!

And this guy who was the friend of all the European models!

Singapore Trip. Of Merlions and A Ferris Wheel

April 08, 2011

After our lunch, we went out and we journeyed to the merlion and we were already disappointed even before because we found out prior to going to Singapore that the Merlion, the very landmark of Singapore, was turned into some hotel. Sad, really. But it’s their country anyway. Haha. Before arriving though, I saw some fancy schmancy buildings and two cute pigeons or whatever they were. Haha! Well you see, I’m a fan of anything artsy, and I used to want to be an architect…then I realized my sketching skills suck and they’re just not for hardcore “architecture-ism”.

and now for the picture of the birds. HAHA! Wish I zoomed in and didn’t underexpose it! 😦

After mega perspiring and bottles of water, we finally arrived where the Merlions were! First the mini-Merlion, then the Merlion!

And yes, that’s the Merlion! sad, ain’t it? It’s not permanent though!

It just looks so weird to sleep there! Semi-empty room, beautiful wallpaper, posh bed, didn’t enter the bathroom anymore because the whole place just had a weird stench!

After our trip to the Merlion, brother and I went to the Singapore Flyer. It was a fun “ride”. Nice view even!

I wonder when the Philippines will have tons of awesomeness?

Singapore Trip. Lunch at Marina Bay Sands

April 08, 2011

Second day in Singapore. We transferred from one hotel to York Hotel. It was way closer to the malls but I had to bid my view of SMU, adieu 😦 After settling, We went to Marina Bay Sands for lunch. The buffet at Rise restaurant was divine. Though there’s more variety in HEAT and Circles, and specially in Dusit Thani, everything was just so good from the buffet! Pardon that I haven’t tried other major buffets from other countries to compare. Whenever we’re out, I can just easily be content with the McDonald’s. So yeah. Haha!

We waited two times. One, for the bus to arrive. Second, for the resto to open.

My ugly not-so-candid face.
We were finally seated and sorry that the next photos are just the food I ate. Haha!

Started off sea animal food. I couldn’t resist the sushi and sashimi! The mussels were delicious too! Followed by Laksa which I think is the national food? It looked like your ordinary cup noodle placed well, but trust me, it was all kinds of awesome. It was good but I think my mom added some spice or something, It had that mild spicy taste. Had duck, chicken, pork and tofu after. It’s just a must for me to always get duck actually. Haha! I remember having other food but didn’t take photos anymore. Haha!

Had dessert after, bread pudding panna cotta and 2 other random food. Haha! Bread pudding was amazing! it didn’t even need much vanilla sauce for it to taste so good!

The chocolate had some gold foil thinger. Which added to the fanciness of the presentation. Had some chocolate love after as well as some mochi. I devoured some of them prior to taking a photo so…oops! Haha!

We were asked if we wanted coffee or tea and since I have tasted awesome coffee the previous days, I opted for tea. It was actually milk tea since you were supposed to mix the milk and the tea! It was heaven. Better than Serenitea! It lacked sinkers though. Ha ha!God, totally loved the buffet! Can’t wait to go back! OH and add to the heavenly buffet was the awesome server girl! and actually the other people were so accommodating as well!

Thanks Rise for the unforgettable experience!

What a Surprise!

Well, I was just watching Paris, Je T’Aime and my mom suddenly gave me something she found on our doorsteps! To our surprise, it’s a package from Moleskine straight from Milan!

I am so amazed because the last e-mail I got from them was last April 04 and I thought they’ll contact me again for whatever arrangements. Guess they thought it’ll be better if they surprised me! And I was surprised!

I guess the moment they sent me that e-mail, they went to the post office whatever and sent me the package!

I’m just so happy right now. I can’t believe it. Haha! Thank you Moleskine! When I go to Italy, I should drop by and give some basket of love or something. haha! Now, what to do with 2 planners? I guess one can be a legit diary with colors and artsy fartsy and the other can be a planner x diary.

What a Surprise!

Singapore Trip. Fun Fun Funan

April 07, 2011

First morning in Singapore. Woke up to the freezing coolness of the hotel room. My mom and I freshened up and we went to Kopitiam for breakfast. I had Kaya toast, eggs and a big but delicious cup of coffee. Mom also got us some shrimp dumpling. Really really good! We went back to the hotel to ask for directions but when we got outside, we realized we didn’t get it. So we asked this SMU student and we totally understood it! Haha!

Wasn’t able to enter the campus but judging from the outside, it’s really nice. The students are even nice, both inside and out. HAHA!

We used the MRT and I was shocked that there wasn’t anyone there! Joke, there were just like 5-6 people. But wow, it was so bright and clean. Well what can you expect, it’s Singapore. Haha! We got off at ION, i think, not too sure haha! and we were really early that most of the shops were still closed! Haha! We went around then when we went outside, mom and I did some photo tripping. The art installment of the people statues really caught my eye! As well as the big Prada sign and the Louis Vuitton window display. The buildings and architectural shiz were also so awesome.

Mom and I walked and walked and saw the Ngee Ann City and the Takashimaya (which we just called Takashima, saved us one syllable. HAHA!). After, we went back to ION or actually I’m not so sure with the name anymore HAHA! Ate lunch and had my first Happy Lemon ever in my whole life. Left my mom in the Hotel to do some adventure on my own. It was soooo hoootttt. I think I got dark because of my adventure. Saw this tall school with a tree in front, the School of The Arts. Cute how they placed announcements by the steps!

When I went back to the hotel, my mom left this time and she did some adventure then after some time my brother came and he brought us around, ish. Haha! We went to different places and I can barely remember the names. Haha! We passed by the Singapore Art Museum, an SMU building, other random places but our final destination was Clarke Quay.

We ate in Octapas and the service was sloowww. Good thing the food was okay. Well we just ordered this paella, since we were quite full anyway. Saw this sign of Saatchi & Saatchi and I just had to have a picture with it. Shallow but I really want to work there someday. They’re just so amazing! Mom and I went back to the hotel excited for the following days.

Oh btw, one of our stops was actually at the Funan DigitaLife Mall where my brother bought me my first prime lens ever! I’m calling it Funphy(Fun-phee) for now. The only difficult part is the lack of autofocus for my D60, but it’s okay. It’s the practice I need 🙂 Thank you brother! hihi.

Singapore Trip. Flight to the Lion City

As you all know, I went to Singapore April 06 and I came back here at April 12 around 1:00 am. I’m doing the blogs by day so expect a flood of blog entries and photos. Haha! Actually, I haven’t even posted any photo yet! Will start soon, I’m still selecting which to upload. I took 1300+ photos and some aren’t so “postable”. Haha!

April 06, 2011

The cab picked us up at around 12:40pm and we got to the airport around 1:00pm. At first I was telling my mom it’s okay to be early than to be just on the right time. I was dead wrong. NAIA 3 was just so empty and it was too boring! Nothing to do and nothing to see for the 3-4 hours we waited for the plane to arrive. So what did my mom and I do? Well, we saw Bo’s Coffee and to be honest, I would rather that Starbucks was just there. I guess because I’m more accustomed to the chill atmosphere it brings.

mom took this! 🙂

After taking our time drinking and eating (we REALLY took our time finishing our drinks and cheesecakes), mom and I decided to check out the mini mini Duty Free.

We went to the waiting area and after 2 or so hours, our plane arrived though they had to fix it up or something so we waited like 30 more minutes. Got a bit irritated because we’ve been waiting for how many hours.

When I got inside the airplane, I was super excited to go to my seat. For some of you who may not know, whenever I ride an airplane, it’s a sort of must for me to sit on the window seat. Seeing the clouds make me so happy! Haha! I guess seeing whatever’s below also makes me happy.

I was actually waving goodbye when I took this shot! Haha!

I also like seeing the sun set when I’m on the plane, I guess it’s a consolation for a night flight. (FYI, I hate flights at night)

Our dinner was just so sad. Cup of noodles 😦 But that was just the first of 3 “dinners”. Haha!

When we finally got off, I instantly saw my brother and it was just fun to see him after 3 months! My mom was also happy such that most of the pictures in the airport were just them. Haha!

We were very hungry and my brother recommended Toast Box to my mom and I. To be fair, their kaya toast was really good!

My brother fetched mom and I to our hotel and we ate real dinner after. Best hainanese chicken I’ve ever tasted in my whole life! The hainanese rice alone was just so delicious! Didn’t bother taking pictures anymore because I was just so hungry that the moment I laid down my food, I quickly finished everything! Haha! That’s how I started my Singapore journey and I shall post what happened in the first whole day soon! :>
