Singapore Trip. Fun Fun Funan

April 07, 2011

First morning in Singapore. Woke up to the freezing coolness of the hotel room. My mom and I freshened up and we went to Kopitiam for breakfast. I had Kaya toast, eggs and a big but delicious cup of coffee. Mom also got us some shrimp dumpling. Really really good! We went back to the hotel to ask for directions but when we got outside, we realized we didn’t get it. So we asked this SMU student and we totally understood it! Haha!

Wasn’t able to enter the campus but judging from the outside, it’s really nice. The students are even nice, both inside and out. HAHA!

We used the MRT and I was shocked that there wasn’t anyone there! Joke, there were just like 5-6 people. But wow, it was so bright and clean. Well what can you expect, it’s Singapore. Haha! We got off at ION, i think, not too sure haha! and we were really early that most of the shops were still closed! Haha! We went around then when we went outside, mom and I did some photo tripping. The art installment of the people statues really caught my eye! As well as the big Prada sign and the Louis Vuitton window display. The buildings and architectural shiz were also so awesome.

Mom and I walked and walked and saw the Ngee Ann City and the Takashimaya (which we just called Takashima, saved us one syllable. HAHA!). After, we went back to ION or actually I’m not so sure with the name anymore HAHA! Ate lunch and had my first Happy Lemon ever in my whole life. Left my mom in the Hotel to do some adventure on my own. It was soooo hoootttt. I think I got dark because of my adventure. Saw this tall school with a tree in front, the School of The Arts. Cute how they placed announcements by the steps!

When I went back to the hotel, my mom left this time and she did some adventure then after some time my brother came and he brought us around, ish. Haha! We went to different places and I can barely remember the names. Haha! We passed by the Singapore Art Museum, an SMU building, other random places but our final destination was Clarke Quay.

We ate in Octapas and the service was sloowww. Good thing the food was okay. Well we just ordered this paella, since we were quite full anyway. Saw this sign of Saatchi & Saatchi and I just had to have a picture with it. Shallow but I really want to work there someday. They’re just so amazing! Mom and I went back to the hotel excited for the following days.

Oh btw, one of our stops was actually at the Funan DigitaLife Mall where my brother bought me my first prime lens ever! I’m calling it Funphy(Fun-phee) for now. The only difficult part is the lack of autofocus for my D60, but it’s okay. It’s the practice I need 🙂 Thank you brother! hihi.

Singapore Trip. Flight to the Lion City

As you all know, I went to Singapore April 06 and I came back here at April 12 around 1:00 am. I’m doing the blogs by day so expect a flood of blog entries and photos. Haha! Actually, I haven’t even posted any photo yet! Will start soon, I’m still selecting which to upload. I took 1300+ photos and some aren’t so “postable”. Haha!

April 06, 2011

The cab picked us up at around 12:40pm and we got to the airport around 1:00pm. At first I was telling my mom it’s okay to be early than to be just on the right time. I was dead wrong. NAIA 3 was just so empty and it was too boring! Nothing to do and nothing to see for the 3-4 hours we waited for the plane to arrive. So what did my mom and I do? Well, we saw Bo’s Coffee and to be honest, I would rather that Starbucks was just there. I guess because I’m more accustomed to the chill atmosphere it brings.

mom took this! 🙂

After taking our time drinking and eating (we REALLY took our time finishing our drinks and cheesecakes), mom and I decided to check out the mini mini Duty Free.

We went to the waiting area and after 2 or so hours, our plane arrived though they had to fix it up or something so we waited like 30 more minutes. Got a bit irritated because we’ve been waiting for how many hours.

When I got inside the airplane, I was super excited to go to my seat. For some of you who may not know, whenever I ride an airplane, it’s a sort of must for me to sit on the window seat. Seeing the clouds make me so happy! Haha! I guess seeing whatever’s below also makes me happy.

I was actually waving goodbye when I took this shot! Haha!

I also like seeing the sun set when I’m on the plane, I guess it’s a consolation for a night flight. (FYI, I hate flights at night)

Our dinner was just so sad. Cup of noodles 😦 But that was just the first of 3 “dinners”. Haha!

When we finally got off, I instantly saw my brother and it was just fun to see him after 3 months! My mom was also happy such that most of the pictures in the airport were just them. Haha!

We were very hungry and my brother recommended Toast Box to my mom and I. To be fair, their kaya toast was really good!

My brother fetched mom and I to our hotel and we ate real dinner after. Best hainanese chicken I’ve ever tasted in my whole life! The hainanese rice alone was just so delicious! Didn’t bother taking pictures anymore because I was just so hungry that the moment I laid down my food, I quickly finished everything! Haha! That’s how I started my Singapore journey and I shall post what happened in the first whole day soon! :>

Singapore Trip. Flight to the Lion City

I’m back from Singapore

I got home from Singapore on April 12 around 1:30 am. Had to be in school around 10 am for errands, an interview and a meeting. Such a crazy day!
First, I just confirmed my schedule and it’s totally crazy! I am hoping Sir Wilson Gan will reconsider the schedule of our Marketing class and make it Monday-Wednesday afternoon. Stress to have a Friday night class and a Saturday morning class! I am hoping for fun classmates from other blocks. I know that my ComTech JTA blockmates are fun already so yeah. Haha!

I went to MVP 101 to pay for my locker violation thing. Totally wasn’t aware of it! But I really hoped that my black cardigan was inside because since the last day of classes, I really couldn’t find it. Thankfully, my cardigan was inside my locker! Didn’t care if I had to pay 200, I really love my cardigan!

I went to my ACTM Finance Core interview after and I could say it was really fun! although I can say that, it’s my worst interview ever. As in I was just so messy! Thank God Inno’s nice and was totally cool about it. I trike’d to Boulevard Diner to have lunch with Rem, Gayle, Nikki and Trisha. I was so lost! The trike driver was super annoying even! He wanted me to pay him 75 pesos! Crazy! Gave him 50 since I stressed him out a bit.

It was a small resto with good food. Although it might be pricey for some, you should totally try it out! It was so nice to lunch out with them! Really missed seeing these people!

Afternoon I waited for a bit and met up with Josh and Krista for our first ever 1st General Assembly! Agpoon was there for a bit. Really happy I saw them! And I am really psyched for the 1st GA, it’ll be really awesome :>

Yesterday, I went to school late afternoon for a meeting with the OrSem ENT people. I met with Eljohn first and he gave me this slip of paper for our meeting on Saturday. I then met with Bernice who is my very awesome Irwin head! Haha! After our quick meeting, I rushed to the OIR to ask about classes available in the school I’ll be going to. Got super bummed that most of the classes I wished to take are only available during the Spring Semester 😦

Went to the OPS room for the ENT meeting which Paten headed. Before the meeting though Al and I got to talk about many random stuff. Really missed this Korean Chinese guy considering we worked together a lot of times last school year. The ice breaker was really sabaw and by that I mean it took up 1/3 of the whole duration of our meeting, or maybe 1/4. It’s fun and effective! I now know all the names of the people there!

Al is the side-viewed one. He looks more Korean than Chinese!

Can’t wait for OrSem! Feels weird though, to be honest, to not be a TnT. 😦 Although I know I will enjoy being in ENT, after all OrSem is not about me and my growth, but about the incoming freshmen. Really excited for them but I’m just so </3 that I have classes during OrSem. Really hoping profs will give us free cuts!

Abot Tanaw Mauban!

March 27-30, 2011

Around this time last week, I was in Mauban Quezon with a few friends for this leadership seminar which Bien-Bien spearheaded along with Henson and JQ. Bien-Bien thought of doing Abot Tanaw in Mauban after ASLA 9. Preparations were done with the help of a lot of ASLA 9 participants. It was really preparing for stuff, actually. It was like preparing for the CSO LeadSem, Sanggu-HS LeadCamp, ACTM LTC Trailblazer and I guess it was a sneak peek for the preparations for ASLA. It was quite unfortunate though that there were only 9 of us who were able to go mainly due to logistical concerns. It was a blast though!

Us minus JQ outside the Pagoda restaurant. We were supposedly imitating something, not sure what though. It was in this restaurant that I ate my first suso(snail) and pancit habhab. The latter was really delicious! For the former, it was very exotic for me, but it also tasted good.

When we arrived at the White House, we chilled and did some last minute preparations for the 2-day affair. The whole time we were just planning and preparing more to make the event really awesome and unforgettable.

Come the first day, (March 28) we were set to conquer the potential-filled youth of Mauban.

There were a lot of things that happened in a span of 2 days for the kids. And as much as they have learned many things about themselves and opportunities after school, I also learned stuff about myself. I learned a lot about facilitating from JQ and Henson, truly appreciate those. I would really love to share what happened in Quezon but I don’t wish to spoil the stuff for future Abot Tanaw.

All I can say is that in those 4 days I spent with awesome, crazy friends, co-faci’s, I really had fun not just because we fooled Xab on the way, or because of the fun feeling being faci’s, or because we had how many jump pictures while we were in the beach. More than those…

I found lifelong koo koo friends.

People who are game to be shot in other words, people who love my camera. Haha!

Friends who will be there to help me when I have problems and dilemmas. Friends I know I will hold on to, no matter what.

Friends I can share my dreams with and more than that, I feel that we’ll be helping each other achieve our dreams.

People who will help me cling on to my passions.

I guess looking back at that amazing experience, of sleeping on a couch for 2 nights, of trying my best not to cry during some of the activities, of eating new food, of taking 2000+ photos, of drinking lambanog and a lot more… I found myself to be like a kid who has big dreams, and while on top of a hill wishing to go down from it.

And as I go down, I wish that more friends will go with me as I spread my own ripples.

Abot Tanaw Mauban!

Why I Love Moleskine

In my last entry I mentioned that my Moleskine has some defect on the pocket flap thing at the back of the planner.

I was saddened, really, and quite disappointed because they let a defect pass the testing stage for quality whatever. I’ve been a planner type of person since I was in 7th grade (2005). Back then I used Starbucks planners since 1. I really liked the colorfulness 2. It’s Starbucks and at that time of my life I really really loved everything Starbucks (fact: I currently have 5 Starbucks tumblers).

My brother introduced me to Moleskine as something sleek, simple and very minimalist while retaining its “beauty”. Without saying anything else, I grabbed my first Moleskine from the shelf and bought it. I really loved every bit of it. The texture of the paper, the garter thing, the fact that it has some ruler sort of thing. Totally fell in love. In fact, ever since 2008, I have been buying Moleskine planners! And at times I would buy Moleskine planners/notebooks/whatnot for my friends as well. To date, I think I have given 7 friends Moleskine stuff. I can totally be a Moleskine ambassador or something if such exists!

Anyway, so I went to their site and told them my problem after my last blog entry. I wasn’t expecting anything, to be honest. But  I was surprised that they e-mailed me this afternoon!

Can’t wait to get the replacement! I am really happy because of all the customer care and services ever, Moleskine is the very first to reply to me. And that’s why I love Moleskine!

I am not endorsing them in anyway, I wish I am though then they’ll sponsor my blog but haha! will not reach the caliber of chuvaness anytime soon. And don’t really want to endorse it because I find it a chore to get a planner I want from them since stocks are super limited and they arrive in few quantities. Don’t want to travel all the way to Greenbelt though (their flagship store is located there). Anyway, I shall be patiently waiting for the replacement. Hope it arrives here before I leave!
